Reporting Memo

So far in my Lincoln Park Business Group story, I have talked to Julia Mattson, the Executive Director of the group. We have only emailed so far but I have a Zoom interview with her tomorrow (Friday October 2nd) due scheduling issues. Julia is going to tell me about the inner workings of the group and how they help businesses. I am going to ask her if there is a specific business that would be a good example of their help in progressing the business.

Their website has been a really good source of information on what the group does and they helped businesses. Their facebook page has also been really helpful too because people from the community share things on there about the Lincoln Park area.

I have learned about the rich history of the Lincoln Park area and the Lincoln Park Business Group. Along with helping businesses, they help liven up the area by doing multiple art projects in the area. I hope to learn more in my interview with Julia Mattson.

What surprised me the most so far is how big this business group it. It also surprised me is all that they do for the community. It’s not just helping businesses thrive in the area, but also helping the community thrive itself.

I was thinking about talking to someone at Bent Paddle Brewery. I know they have expanded in the last couple of years and they are big part of the LPBG. I am also planning on talking to a local that visits the area often and see what they think about they area.

This story is relevant right now because so many businesses in that area are affected by COVID-19. It will show how the LPBG helped the community through these hard times.
